Michael Jackson dead at 50

Pop history lost a father today.  Michael Jackson left the planet recently.  For some, this will be a joyous occasion and for others, not so.  He will be remembered by many as the icon of the pop music generation.  His work deeply influenced such people as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and other equals of his generation.

He lost his childhood to a performance career and an abusive father.  Too many years spent under the thumb of his father and the white-hot lights of fame.  He was moving from place to place constantly, and was often unable to build strong relationships with others.

He was able to perform perfectly choreographed dance moves off the cuff.  His timing and stage presence were undeniable.  Jackson dropped off the radar for a few years and then would come bucking back to the top.  He was inventing himself repeatedly.

Jackson suffered what was an apparent heart attack.  He was to once again rekindle the flame of pop in the United Kingdom.  It has been widely reported that he was distressed about the prospect.

If you loved him or not, there is no denying that he has made an indelible mark on the history of music and the arts.  He was a force be reckoned with as far as knowing what the people wanted.  In fact, he is the reason you see people in movies moonwalking or break dancing in the movies.
