Michael Jackson’s Death a Message to Medical Community

The death of Michael Jackson should send a strong message to those who practice medicine.

As details about Michael Jackson’s death are revealed, startling revelations about his life are also being exposed.

The final autopsy findings have not been released by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office as of yet but according to sources close to the investigation  into Michael Jackson’s death, Diprivan, a powerful anesthetic used in hospital and clinic surgeries, is widely rumored to be what caused the pop singer’s demise.

According to sources, the drug was found when investigators searched the home that Jackson was renting at the time of his death.

According to leading medical experts like CNN’s Dr. Sonjay Gupta, it is highly irregular and unusual to find the drug outside of a medical setting because when the drug is administered the patient must be monitored by a series of machines tracking the heart rate, breathing, blood pressure and other vital signs.

The fact that Jackson had Diprivan was not the most shocking discovery, however. A multitude of other prescription drugs was also found labeled with several aliases that Jackson apparently used to get the drugs.

Drug enforcement agents and police found a virtual pharmacy of drugs in the singer’s home. Investigators are now searching to find out how Jackson was able to get so many drugs and who provided them to him.

Several doctors have been named as subjects of the probe, among them Michael Jackson’s dermatologist.

The fact that Michael Jackson had so many drugs in his possession at the time of his death is shocking enough but the scope of how many doctors were involved and how long Jackson was abusing prescription drugs is more shocking.

It has been speculated that the pop singer’s addiction to prescription drugs began in 1984 when he was severely burned on his scalp while making a Pepsi commercial. At the time Jackson was given powerful pain killers to deal with the pain of the injury and it was then that many suspect that his addiction began.

It is sad to discover that one of your heroes or some one you look up to has a problem like Michael’s but the responsibility is not his alone.

Many physicians provided prescription drugs to Jackson over the years under names that they or someone knew were false but yet they continued. Sometimes a patient will ask a doctor to prescribe something for them, that is not unusual but the amounts and the frequency with which Michael Jackson was asking should have sent red flags waving.

Unfortunately they did not or simply were ignored.

In either case someone is going to be held responsible for the death of Michael Jackson. Although no formal charges have been brought against anyone, it seems to be only a matter of time before someone is officially charged.

Charging and or convicting someone for Michael Jackson’s death will not bring him back but one thing it will do is send a very strong message to the medical community that enabling prescription drug abuse will not be taken lightly.
