Michael Jackson’s This is It
What the song and movie echoes about.
I sat there in the movie hall waiting for “Gamer” to begin. With nothing other than Michael Jackson’s albums being played. One song – well Okay…then it went to two, three and yes, the entire album was actually being played. I’m not complaining I reached the empty hall nearly 20 minutes before the show (yes, I expected quite a performance from Gerard Butler, if you must know).

As MJ’s songs played, I was unconsciously singing the lines with it. Yes, deep in the dark pockets of my childhood memories lay fresh lyrics of all his songs. Black or white, Smooth criminal, We are the world, Bad, Billy Jean and so on…
The first trailer shown that night was inevitably “This is it”.
If there’s one marketing gimmic that never grows old, it is the tag line “never-seen before” footages that would be included in the movie / documentary.
A legend indeed. First there was ‘the’ icon called Elvis Presley. To follow the stand of ‘the’ icon was Michael Jackson. Both, managed to prove their shiny worth admidst controversies any popular person would face.

Yet, the question is – What is so special about Michael Jackson and in particular – This is it?
The movie is to be broadcasted for only two weeks. Probably this is one of the best tribute to the late MJ that everyone could contribute to. What is in the documentary / film is something I leave it to you to watch and experience. The movie releases on 28 October 2009. Other than the contents what I can tell you is the following (courtesy Wikipedia, and MJ’s official website):
- Lead vocalist and dancer: Michael Jackson
- Choreographer: Michael Jackson
- Music By: Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Robert Kelly, Quincy Jones. Music Distributed By Sony.
- Keyboards: Michael Bearden, Morris Pleasure

- Background dancers: Daniel Yao, Nicholas Bass, Daniel Celebre, Mekia Cox, Christopher Grant, Misha Hamilton, Shannon Holtzapffel, Devin Jamieson, Charles Klapow, Ricardo Reid, Danielle Rueda Watts, Tyne Stecklein, Timor Steffens

I shall leave you to the imagination and bite at your patience till the release of This is it with the lyrics echoing :
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
Cheers,
Kaavs

This Is It?? Unfortunately I’m afraid this WON’T be it! There’s too much money to be made from other tacky spin-offs.
It won’t be long before the Jackson estate buys Neverland—moves his body there and opens it to the public. It’s too bigger cash-cow for them not to.
Good article, Kaavs BTW
