Micheal Jackson: A Troubled Genius

This is a brief history of Micheal Jackson and what we learn from his life and “death”.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an extremely influential but at the same time a very controversial figure in the history of American music. He was an extremely brilliant and talented artist, humanitarian and businessman. His extraordinary skills made him the King of Pop for more than four decades.

He successes included achieving multiple Guinness World Records which included the “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time”, Grammy Awards, Number one singles as well as the creator of the greatest selling records worldwide which is over 750 million.

He was the youngest in the Jackson family and started his career in 1968 as a member of his breather’s band “The Jackson 5″. In 1971, while he was still a member of the band, he started as a solo artist. The album Thriller which was published in 1982 remains the best selling album of all time. Furthermore his four other solo albums are among the best selling. These include Off the Wall, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory.

His personal life and changing appearances and behavior caused great controversy. He had experienced health concerns since the early 1990s, along with conflicting reports regarding the state of his finances. He was said to be badly indebted.  His health and reputation were badly affected by controversy, though no charges were proved because of the lack of evidence. He married twice and had three children.

His death on June 25 2009 shocked the whole world. Everyone felt bad about his death including those who were his fans and those who were against him as well as those who had just heard his name a couple of times over the TV, in developing poor countries.

I think what we can do to honor and respect this great man is to pray for his journey that has started after his death. We should also pray for his family and friends. His death teaches us a lesson, a lesson that we should never forget. I think that lesson is that we should stop helping to spread controversies against great people, whether they are great musicians, scholars, politicians or anyone else.
