Most Beautiful Women of the UK
The United Kingdom has produced 5 Miss World Beauty title holders since the Miss World Organization was founded in England by Eric Morley in 1951.
The last woman representing UK to win the Miss World contest is Miss Sarah-Jane Hutt, making her the fifth British woman to win the crown. For the last 24 years, UK has not produced a single Miss World Title. UK has yet to win a Miss Universe beauty crown.
Here are the five UK women that won the Miss World beauty contest:
-
Rosemarie Frankland (1961)

Miss Rosemarie Frankland won the Miss World beauty contest in 1961. The venue was the Lyceum Theater in London. She was the first British woman to win the Miss World crown. She was Miss Wales before making it as Miss World. Miss Frankland was also first runner-up in the Miss Universe contest held on the same year. Miss Frankland was born in Wrexham in Northeast Wales and spent her childhood in Lancashire, England. After her reign as Miss World, she married Warren Entner, a singer/guitarist in the popular band, “The Grass Roots”. Later they moved to Los Angeles, California with their only child Jessica. They later divorced in 1981. Miss Frankland died in her home in Los Angeles in 2000. She was 57 years old.
-
Ann Sidney (1964)
The second British woman to win the Miss World contest is Miss Ann Sidney. She won the Miss World Beauty contest in 1964. The pageant was held at the Lyceum Theater in London. Miss Sidney later became a movie star and a TV personality. She appeared in many great movies including The Avengers, Kojak, Seven Deadly Sins, among others. She also became very active in Theatre and was a leading personality in the theatre production of “Divorce me. Darling” a play that won the Barclays award for best musical.
-
Lesley Langley (1965)
Miss Lesley Langley is the 3rd British woman to win the Miss World crown. She succeeded Miss Ann Sydney who was Miss World of 1964. Miss Langley is from Weymouth, England and she attended the Royal Merchant Navy School in Berkshire. Miss Langley later married a famous jazz organist Alan Haven and they had a daughter.
-
Helen Morgan (1974)

Miss Helen Morgan was crowned Miss World of 1974 in ceremonies held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Miss Morgan is the second woman from Wales and the fourth British woman to win the Miss World contest. Her reign as Miss World was short-lived as she had to give up the crown when the pageant organizers found out that she had a child before joining the Miss World contest. Miss Africa, Anneline Kriel, the first runner-up was eventually proclaimed Miss World. Miss Morgan held on to the crown for just four days. Helen Morgan at Center

Sarah-Jane Hutt (1983)
Sarah-Jane Hutt was the fifth British woman to be crowned Miss World of 1983. Miss Hutt is from Poole, England. Her victory was considered unpopular as her being declared winner by the judges caused a stir among participants because many observed that she was not among the most beautiful contestants in the pageant. Some contestants in protest to her winning the crown refused to attend the coronation ball held after the pageant.

I worked with Sarah in Bournmouth at an investment firm in 1997/98. She’s a rare breed is our Sarah – beautiful of course and has a wonderful sense of humour. You don’t find women like Sarah very often and i’m very happt to have known her. I read the oomments about one or two other contestants being pissed off when Sarah won in 1983. I agree with them, it was unfair….quite simply coz our Sarah was streets ahead of them in every sense and they had no chance. The’re not fit to lace Sarah’s boots! Good on yer sarah, well done and keep smiling, ya cheeky monkey!! MDA rocks!

Shaun, which investment company was it you worked with Sarah-Jane at?
I am writing a book about beauty queens and would love to interview her over email.
You will get a credit in my book if you are able to help!
Many thanks.
