My 11 Celebrity Heroes: Featuring Brett Michaels, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Garner, Gerard Butler, Bon Jovi, Meryl Streep, Kathryn Bigelow and More
A list of my celebrity "heroes". This list is meant to be deep: It is fun, personal and at the same time universal. Features: Brett Michaels, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Garner, Gerard Butler, Meryl Streep, Kathryn Bigelow, Bon Jovi and more.
Well, this time it is not about men who actually fought in a battle. They didn’t fight for their country, save people (well, I am pretty sure most do charity but that’s not the point) like firefighters do or they didn’t invent something.
They are celebrities of one category or the other: actors, musicians, writers, bloggers, marketers and such. They are personal heroes of mine in one sense or more because I admire their work, what they have done for their area of work and they inspired me. There is no order of preference.

1) Mel Gibson. Forget the personal life and gossip column material. I am not nominating him to be my favorite humanitarian. He is my favorite actor/director. Oh, no- – I haven’t watched Apocolyptico or Passion of Christ and I am not planning to. He has two other movies he directed.: Braveheart and The Man Without A Face. Braveheart earned him two Oscars: Best Film and Director. While Braveheart got all the popularity, critlcal and box office success he deserves, his directorial debut The Man Without A Face deserved went a little unnoticed. It is not an epic movie but it doesn’t make it any less special. The Man Without A Face is personal, emotional and very humane with solid acting, writing and directing. Yep, with 2 movies, he is my my favorite director. Sure, there are many directors- who are not also actors- whose work I enjoy. But if I like and respect these two movies more than all others combined, I guess I can call him my favorite director.
As for his acting, he has been entertaining and thrilling us a great deal, since 1979. I have two list posts on his movies you really should check out:

I like Mel’s movies because of it’s authenticity. I prefer Germans to speak German or Indians speaking Indian. Instead of English. You should see Apocalypto even if Mel is not acting in it. Btw I always wanted to see Mayan culture in its full glory.

@ Starpisces: Mel Gibson, Meryl Streep and Gerard Butler and Jennifer Garner are fine actors. Edward is one hell of a multi-tasker. Kathryn is an amzing director, Bon Jovi and Poison rock, Sophie and John sure can write. Oh, and Timothy offers advice everyone can follow.
@ I will check it out. I am a little concerned about the gore but hey, I handled Braveheart and The Patriot;) You are right about authenticity and he does pick- most often- great scripts.
