My 11 Celebrity Heroes: Featuring Brett Michaels, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Garner, Gerard Butler, Bon Jovi, Meryl Streep, Kathryn Bigelow and More

A list of my celebrity "heroes". This list is meant to be deep: It is fun, personal and at the same time universal. Features: Brett Michaels, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Garner, Gerard Butler, Meryl Streep, Kathryn Bigelow, Bon Jovi and more.

6)      Brett Michaels

Front man of Poison. While Brett has been a household name with reality show participations (I haven’t watched, just heard) and unfortunately occupied a few headlines about his unfortunate health problems, for 80s rock fans-especially hard rock and/or glam rock lovers, Poison has been one of the best bands around. I might have pointed out special things about Poison in more posts than one. However, I also want to add that I like Brett’s sense of fashion and decoration (MTV Cribs) and how he deals with his health problems. He is optimistic and determined and these go a long way. There is also a personal point of admiration for me- how fit he has managed to become despite having diabetes. If you are curious why this is personal, just pm me…It is a romantic comedy story without the romance…

7)      Gerard Butler

Yep. Of course he would be here. I admire his acting, looks, movie choices and personality. I love how he got to be famous- starting with no connections or money- coming from Scotland and becoming a very sought-after, highly-paid Hollywood actor. This is a guy who started acting when he was 25, mind you! He went to college- graduated from law school and decided he hated the office. He’d much rather sing in rock bands and tried his hand at theater. He doesn’t mind excrutiating workouts required for movies. He takes many diverse roles and pulls off every one of them. He can  do low budget or expensive films. He can sing opera and he doesn’t minf taking the piss out of himself, not at the interviews or at Saturday Night Live.

And I have a list post solely dedicated to everything Butler:

8)      Jennifer Garner:

Because she played one of the most interesting, kick-ass, gorgeous, intense and exciting roles in TV history. She played a tough on the outside secret agent who had to deal with traumas and complications every day. She cried and kicked ass. She spoke many accents and languages and got to do her own stunts. I wish I were an accent and I wished I could play Stydney Bristow in Alias.

Pictures from the show: Jennifer Garner as double agent Sydney Bristow. Well, Sydney Bristow undercover and on a mission, to be exact.

9)      Edward Burns

Edward Burns is a writer/director/producer/actor. A multi-tasking, talented movie maker who has accomplished one of my dreams when it comes to movie making: making your own films: writing the script and playing your favorite character too.  I have a whole post dedicated on how Edward did it.

10)   Timothy Ferriss

Best-selling author/blogger who wrote the ultimate book when it comes to changing your work life and shecdule forever. Do you hate offices and cubicles? Do you have dreams? You will love Ferriss. He is featured in the post with Burns, but his book is reviewed here.

11)   Sophie Kinsella

My second favorite author. It’s no secret that I- along with the majority of the female population- love a good romantic comedy that will make me escape the real world. And she is the master at that. She develops greatly original yet loveably characters and stories. She can also make you fall off the couch laughing. While Hollywood recognized her best-selling talent and made  a movie adaptation, and the movie is pretty lovely, the books is just more romantic and a lot funnier. You think Hugh Dancy’s Luke Brandon is sexy? See the one in the book. Luke is pretty much as close as a modern Darcy a girl can get. He is just more extroverted and more fun. Plus, the book ends differently. No, it ends just as happily. No wait, it ends more sexily and therefore it is a happier ending for both parties. Spoilers? Oh, come on! You knew it was a happy ending the moment you heard romantic comedy.

There are more  personal heroes but it should be another post.

I like Mel’s movies because of it’s authenticity. I prefer Germans to speak German or Indians speaking Indian. Instead of English. You should see Apocalypto even if Mel is not acting in it. Btw I always wanted to see Mayan culture in its full glory.

@ Starpisces: Mel Gibson, Meryl Streep and Gerard Butler and Jennifer Garner are fine actors. Edward is one hell of a multi-tasker. Kathryn is an amzing director, Bon Jovi and Poison rock, Sophie and John sure can write. Oh, and Timothy offers advice everyone can follow.

@ I will check it out. I am a little concerned about the gore but hey, I handled Braveheart and The Patriot;) You are right about authenticity and he does pick- most often- great scripts.
