Neil Young’s Car Linked to Warehouse Fire

Neil Young’s Car Linked To Warehouse Fire.

The inspiration behind Neil Young’s 2009 album ‘Fork In The Road’ – a battery-powered, converted 1959 Lincoln Continental – was blamed for a warehouse fire in San Fransico, destroying vintage Neil Young guitars and memorabilia.

The website lincvolt.com has blamed the vehicles charging system for causing the fire, which ripped through 10,000 sq foot space, containing $850,000 (£534,000) worth of paintings, instruments and vintage cars – although Young has stated it was “not the fault of the car.” Firefighters have estimated they managed to save 70% of the contents in the warehouse.

“The car was plugged in to charge and left unattended,” Young stated. “The wall charging system was not completely tested and had never been left unattended. A mistake was made.”

Young plans to rebuild the car again by using pieces of a similar Lincoln Continental. He said ”the reason we started this project has not changed. As a nation we are still excessively burning fossil fuels, doing damage to our planet that will hurt our children’s lives and future generations as well … On a project like this, setbacks happen for a reason and we can see that very well from here.”

“Barn’s burnt down,” he added, quoting the Japanese poet Mizuta Masahide. “Now I can see the moon.”
