Obsessed with Celebrities Because Your Life is That Pathetic

An obsession with celebrities.

Is our obsession with celebrities as a society just an easy distraction, to divert our own attention away from what’s going on in our own lives? Or is it that we are just obsessed with putting other people down and finding fault with their every move, looking how much cellulite someone has, or who they last had an affair with, because it makes us feel better about ourselves?

Silliness.

It’s a silly and rather pathetic obsession we have with celebrities as a whole. Some of us seem to put them on a pedestal when all they have done is been photographed falling out of a night club, with maybe a bit of cleavage showing. Oh and maybe they have hat a manufactured pop song created along the way somewhere that made thousands of people scream their name, for a reason I’ll never understand.

Celebrities are no better than you or me. The difference is, is that they get photographed every time they make a simple human error. Human errors that you wouldn’t at all be interested in if it were about the average Joe who lived down the road.

Taking a quick look at what’s trending at this very minute on Yahoo, we have Tom Hanks, Gary Barlow and Robert Pattinson amongst the top ten current trends.

OMG, Robert Pattinson said the F word!

Are they there because they saved someones life, or they have been fighting in a war? Certainly not. Yet we are still more obsessed with them swearing live on television, and then obsessing about the fact that some guy said the F word live on television.

Seriously, if you are that obsessed with what the people on television are doing, rather than what is going on in your own life, then you need to take a step back and prioritise things a little more.
