Old is Gold…for The Media!!!

The oldest woman, surrounded by a veil of mystery, died on May 2nd. Her secrets to longitivity have been revealed!

On May 2nd, the Sun rose over the Landof the Rising Sun, revealing the death of Kama Chinen, a super centenarian[someone who has lived for more than 110 years]. She had been dominating the longetivity section in the Guinness Records since the death of Gertrude Bainesin September, 2009. Her age, at the time of death was an astounding 114 years! Added to this fact that she was just a week short of becoming 115. But alas, that was not to be so.

Born on May 10, 1895, Kama Chinenlived in the subtropical island of Okinawa in Japan. Her family had gone to great lengths to keep her life[and death] secretive so as to protect her privacy. Details regarding her death were not made available to the public. In fact, many local newspapers didn’t even publish her name!

Kama Chinen, who had lived through 3 centuries[the 19th, 20th and 21st], adds to the list of elderlies in Okinawa, which boasts of a long history of robust centenarians and super centenarians like Chiyoko Asato(111), Matsu Kayo(112), Kame Higa(112), Gengan Tonaki(112) and many other Ancient Achievers. Japan itself is capable of claiming the fame of having had over 150 centenarians. In fact, according to U.N. estimates, Japan’s centenarian population is to touch nearly 1 Millionby 2050.  But, what is it that makes the Japanese people live so long? Sure, genes are playing a major role in living longer, but Kama Chinen has revealed her secret as being that of taking an egg sandwich everyday. Other centenarians and super centenarians likewise emphasize the importance of diet for a long life. Researches, on the other hand, contribute longetivitiness to regular exercise since childhood and not smoking or drinking.

Although the title for the oldest woman was sweeped by Jeanne Calmet(121), Kama Chinen has nevertheless set quite a feat in acheiving a whooping 114.In her death, she has passed on her title to a certain Eugénie Blanchard(114) of France.
