Oprah, Was That Really Necessary?
by Why would Oprah have a questionable guest on her show?
Has it finally come to this? Is the economic downturn affecting even OPRAH?
Is she so desperate for viewers?
It must be the case. Otherwise, why would Oprah invite the author of a book which tells horrific stories about her father? A father who died last year?
I understand a person’s need to cleanse their demons. I also understand a person’s need to make money.
What I don’t understand is waiting until your father is dead, then going on Oprah with a tell-all book.
I don’t understand having Oprah turn to the page which graphically describes a father’s alledged sexual encounter with his daughter. I don’t understand Oprah insisting that the author of the book read the passage aloud. It was trash television at its worst.
There was nothing good to be gained. The woman who wrote the book said she was hoping that other children experiencing incest would find strength and self-worth, etc. I can see that. But why didn’t she write the book while her father was alive, so he could say something in his own defense?
This business of waiting until people have passed on, then publicly smearing their name, is wrong.
Oprah, I expected better of you.
