Polanski

Roman Polanski still a fugitive, but now time to make amends and come to court to rid himself and his name of this nightmare of years ago.

I love Roman Polanski, he has an eye for the camera and he is truly one of the last great directors of our time.  He made such classic films as ‘Chinatown,’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and he was given the Oscar for Best Director in 2003 for ‘The Pianist.’

As most of we baby boomers are aware, in 1978 he was accused of raping a young teenager in the Hollywood Hills, he fled to Paris because he thought that the judge was going to throw the book at him.  This past week there was another hearing for this case, of course Mr. Polanski was a no show but the judge in the case said that there is a possibility that this case may be dismissed.

It is now time for Mr. Polanski to make amends, time marches on, time moves on and we all have gotten older even the young woman who he raped, she is now a mother of three and 43 years of age and she has forgiven him.

Mr. Polanski is way too great of a talented director to keep this black eye on his resume and in his life.  He is now in his seventies and as one can attest by his winning the Oscar for best director for ‘the pianist’ in 2003, he is still at the top of his game.

The past is the past and if Mr. Polanski does not take care of this dark moment in his life that has plauged him for over 30 years now, I think this will be such a sad ending to a promising career of one of the greatest directors ever in our life time when he is no longer here.  When he passes on two dark days in his career will forever exist when you hear the name of Roman Polanski:  that August Evening in 1969 when Manson murdered mr. polanski’s beloved wife, the gorgeous Sharon Tate and their unborn child; and that day on 1978 when he took advantage of a young teenaged girl.  The awful murders will not bring his talented wife back, but he can still atone for his sin for what he did to that young woman 30 years ago, by showing up in court and getting that dark day out of his life once and for all.

I agree. Accountability is Polanski’s “soul destiny.”
