Prenuptial Agreement of The Royal Couple

Statistics are clearly showing that many marriages end in divorce, which can cause expenses, can be time-consuming and very stressful, while a prenup agreement can bring security to both sides in order to protect them from such situation development.

Now when the Royal Wedding had ended, everybody starts posing a question whether Prince William and Kate Middleton have done a premarital agreement or not. This question of prenuptial agreement somehow seemed less important for public before the wedding, since almost no one wanted to give advantage to money over a romantic event such as wedding is.

But, the truth is, that Prince William did sign a premarital agreement with his wife, and so he made sure to protect his family assets.

However, such an agreement is never to protect only one side (that is why it is called an agreement), so in case it comes to divorce, security would be given to both parties.

The agreement between the two, states that Princess Kate will not be entitled to any property, but “only” to monetary compensation which is believed to be estimated in millions, together with an annual allowance.

The facts say that Prince William stands to inherit from the Queen her wealth that was recently estimated at approximately $467 million, and it is not to be forgotten that he also received a portion of his mother’s nearly $34 million estate, which primarily came from her divorce settlement.

And while lots of people do agree that a thing such as a prenuptial agreement is an unromantic thing to do before the wedding, it comes out after all that it is a “necessary evil”, especially for having in mind the history of failed marriages in the royal family.

What makes this agreement interesting is the fact that in case of divorce, Kate will no longer live in the royal court, but in one of the royal villa’s and the children will live with William, while it would be allowed to Kate and children’s grandparents (in this case, Kate’s parents) to visit them.

My question and comment on this is how can a woman agree that in case of divorce children should not live with her? But, on the other hand, I guess that us, mortals see things differently, while some other generations elsewhere are brought up to respect the crown and think of it as more important than the family itself.

What do you think about this?

Yes, interesting agreement… and especially the point about children. I’m not sure that I’d like that point if I were Kate, but I guess she had little choice.

Interesting. That part about the children is really unfair for Kate.
