Sixteen-year-old Selena Gomez is a shining star on her way to the top.  As one of the bright young stars of Disney’s “The Wizards Of Waverly Place”, Selena dazzles us with her beauty, sharp wit, and comedic talents as an accomplished actress.  Selena has also wowed us with her own version of “Cinderella”  called “Another Cinderella Story.”  This movie is the sequel to Hillary Duff’s “Cinderella Story.”

     Her new upcoming film for Disney is called “The Princess Protection Program.”  This film promises to keep Selena’s star shining bright.  One of the special perks of this newest project is her co-star.  It is her real life best friend, Demi Lovato.

     Success for Selena Gomez has not come without  its downside.  Her guest appearances on “Hannah Montana” as rising pop star Mikayla threw her into the media limelight with fellow teen sensation, Miley Cyrus.  Constant comparisons to Miley Cyrus became frequent tauntings for the young teen.

     The stunning beauty that hails from Grand Prairie, Texas shows herself to be the same as any other sixteen-year-old teenager, facing the same teen issues, problems, hopes, and dreams.  Her sudden success has not changed her.  Over the coming years, Selena will continue to blossom both as a young lady and an actress.  There will probably always be that one skeptic or two who wants to keep comparing Selena to Miley Cyrus in the hopes of a pop princess war to increase their readership.  Selena seems to be strong enough and down to earth to overcome the “Miley shadow.” This is a salute to Selena Gomez and everything that she has accomplished so far in her young life and for those accomplishments yet to come.
