I think more people use sarcasm than we realize. My 36 year old niece told me not long ago, she was trying hard to be less sarcasric. She found out recently how many people co-workers and casual acquaintances she has offended without knowing.
One place I have found sarcasm can't be detected is in writing such as email. It just comes off as plain rude even from someone who's sarcams is well known to you.
Good article.
