Just after the last midnight five of the fifteen killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were hanged. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh had responded negatively to their appeal earlier.

Just after the last midnight five of the fifteen killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were hanged. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh had responded negatively to their appeal earlier. Members of their families were allowed to take the bodies by ambulances. People hurled shoes and stones and slangs at the ambulances when the corpses were taken to their home.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a role to free Bangladesh from the tyrannical rule of Pakistan in 1972. He was very popular and he chanced to rule the new state till August, 1975. He was brutally killed by a few dissatisfied army officers in the first-ever coup after independence of Bangladesh. Wife of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his three sons, two daughters-in-law and twenty other persons were assassinated during the coup.

Sheikh Hasina, the present Prime Minister of Bangladesh, escaped the massacre as she was away from the country during this horrible period. She has finally avenged the death and made large number of her people happy and satisfied.

After the murder of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the country plunged into terror and military forces ruled till 1985. Ersad, Jiyaur Rahman and Khaleda Jia were at the helms of affair of Bangladesh by this time.

At present Bangladesh is a divided house and relation among the political leaders of the state is not at all cordial. A poisonous environment has occupied the political firmament of Bangladesh. It is the time when much of the facts of history may be suppressed and people of the current generation will never learn some small things.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the first powerful leader of Bangladesh. He was the chief of the great region located at the east of West Bengal of India. His reign was not free from dark spots. There were charges of corruptions against his government. Nepotism was also rampant. And people began to get disenchanted with the repeat of experiences of tyranny. Yes, to the close of the day popularity of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was in the wane.
