There are celebrity splits and then there are shocking celebrity splits. Paris moving on to her nth beau wouldn’t as much as stir us, leave alone shake, but it’s heart wrenching to hear about our favorite couple calling it quits when we thought they had hit the “happily ever after” jackpot. Remember Jen and Brad?
While some divorces are quiet and dignified, there are some that are splashed across magazines and become dinner table talk. Like Britney and K-Fed’s or Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards’ nasty split which kept gossip mills working overtime.
After being together for eight years, Material Girl Madonna looked like she’d finally been tamed. But the couple filed for divorce last year and though A-Rod may or may not have been the reason behind the split, it was sad to see the power couple part ways. But not before Guy made out with a substantial chunk in settlement.
The latest couple hitting splitsville is Justin Timberlake and girlfriend Jessica. After Britney and Cameron Diaz, it looked Ms Biel was going to be the one living in Timbaland for ever but according to Star, sexy singer Rihanna could be the new tune Timberlake’s singing. The two are reportedly texting and talking on the phone nonstop since the VMAs.
Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Reggie Bush’s two-year long romance has also cooled off, according to People. Just last year the couple was talking of “heading towards marriage” but the long periods of time they were spending apart probably didn’t make the heart grown any fonder. On the contrary.
After speculation of LeAnn Rimes cheating on husband of seven years, Dean Sheremet, with her Lifetime co-star Eddie Cibrian, the couple have separated. It was US Weekly that reported Rimes and Cibrian were sneaking off to secret hotel rendezvous. Though the two have denied any such allegation, it is interesting that Rimes’ split came days after Cibrian’s wife, Brandi Glanville, announced she was leaving her husband.
Though it was evident not all was perfect in the TLC’s “Jon and Kate plus 8” stars Jon and Kate Gosselin household, the couple’s decision to file for divorce amid accounts of infidelity by both was shocking nonetheless.  The couple talked about their deteriorating relationship on TV saying the split “would have played out had the world been watching or not,” according to a Reuters report. The couple has also said they will continue to film the show along with their eight kids who get to live in their Pennsylvania house. They admitted they still haven’t decided how to divide their joint assets.
Who can forget Katie Price and Peter Andre’s gaudy Cinderella-inspired wedding a few years back? Which is why the couple’s May announcement of a split is truly shocking. Together for almost four years and parents to three kids, it looked like they were indeed living the fairytale. According to the glamour model, the decision is Andre’s and she is “devastated.” Andre told Sun it was Price’s drunken moments, when she would be completely “out of control”, which led him to put the cap on their marriage.
In the world of bright lights and red carpets, splits are nothing new. But some of them come as complete shocks and are as dramatic in real life as the action played in reel life. Price of the life these celebrities live as stardom.
