Stars Who Never Made It: Part 3

When 15 minutes of fame is reduced to 10.

To qualify for this list there has to have been a moment in time when there was promise. When the face of the celeb graced front covers, when articles were written, and there was the belief it was a straight road to the very top.

To make this list, the celeb could not die or suffer some terrible accident, sink into drugs or drink so as to become a great tragic figure. The Celeb had to just fizzle.

In short, s/he got the ‘break’ and broke it.

Pia Zadora

This is the perfect example of a ’star’ who almost made it.  Getting the lead in ‘The Lonely Lady’, a Harold Robbins best seller, it was the kind of part a normal actress rides to stardom.

The hype was incredible, Pia Zadora appeared every where with everyone. Then the movie came out.

Harry Hamlin

Staring on L.A. Law one expected this actor would go on to major motion pictures especially when he was voted as People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1987. With this accolade, he decided to leave the series. Probably assuming there were great parts just waiting for him.. There weren’t. He popped up in a few ‘B’ pictures no one remembers any more than one remembers him.

Marie-French Pisier

‘The Other Side of Midnight’, was a best selling book. The movie was touted as being hot, the public anxious to see who would play the leading character. No one had heard of Marie-French Pisier until the movie; she was forgotten immediately after.

Keith Hamilton Cobb

One of the most remarkable Stars that Never Were is Keith Hamilton Cobb. Absolutely beautiful he first dazzled in a soap, appeared in two movies no one saw, and then became Tyr Anasazi on Andromeda.

His character had sci-fi sites bubbling and everyone expected his next move would be a major motion picture or a top rated serial.  Alas….it was not  merely down hill, it was under it.

Isn’t it amazing to think of the breaks these folks had?

Keith Hamilton Cobb didn’t just fizzle. He quit Andromeda and went on to play a minor roll in a soap. Then he turned down the roll of Ronan in Stargate Atlantis.

What kind of man wants to at act but doesn’t want to be the heroic warrior in a top end scifi series?

I bet Cobb is gay. Nothing else makes sense. So his career didn’t fizle. He chose to be true to the little girl inside.
