Superstition About Itchy Palms

Though the word superstition evokes a different feeling in each one of us, the fact that it does make us ponder talk’s volumes about the vulnerable psychological side we possess. One of the most common superstitious beliefs globally is associated with itchy palms. There are tons of theories in regard with itch on palms. It’s a person’s belief associated with superstition that further intrigues the mind. This article brings to life superstition about itchy palms.

Bizarre rituals and superstition have been prevalent since ancient times. Needless to say forms of superstitious belief have been passed on by our ancestors. While some argue and call superstition personal belief or acquired faith, many others disagree. A slight itch on the palm is enough to get the mind rolling like there’s no tomorrow. Superstitious beliefs can have a calming effect on the mind or an adverse effect depending on the channeled belief. That tingling sensation in the right palm or left palm can have an impact on the minds of people who are staunch believers of the unknown. Scary as it may seem, the phrase ‘Having an itchy Palm’ is tangled in a web of theories. While it is believed that the phrase came into being in context with desire for riches and greed, it is also understood to be in reference with active or passive energy in a person.

Superstition about itchy right palm

Since ages it believed that an itchy right palm is a sign about money coming in or a financial investment going kaput. According to ancient pagan belief, scratching the palm when you feel the tingling sensation results in a loss. Hence most persons either bear the itchy sensation or rub their hand on a wood which is considered a sacred/lucky element in various beliefs associated with superstition. The term ‘touch wood’ has its roots in pagan belief that suggests touching wood wards of a spirits wrath and seeks blessings thereby preventing hope from crashing in the future. Palmists are of the opinion that an itchy right palm is symbolic of transfer of active energy that brings in money. In the Renaissance era and in the late Middle Ages it was believed an itchy right hand was an indication of a new person entering your life.

Superstition about itchy left palm

An itchy left palm is associated with money leaving you. It means money will be paid, not received. According to superstitious beliefs, Itch in the left palm indicates that a person is likely to spend a huge amount or lose money in a financial strain that comes without warning. In modern times huge bill payments are associated with an itchy left palm. Rubbing wood or touching wood when you have an itchy left palm transfers or releases unwanted energy buildup. Some believe an itchy left palm brings in money at an unexpected point in life, when you need it most.

Contrary to my long established experience with itching palms, as soon as my palms itch, I simply sit back and relax, because before the sun goes down and as surely as day gives rise to night, I will, the very day, see some cash arrive in my hand! This has been going on for as long as I remember! I have stopped questioning why this happens so accurately, but the more this happens each time, the more I reralize just how superstitious I am!
