Susan Boyle: The Most Overrated Singer of 2009

Is the world going crazy or what?

The first time I listened to Susan Boyle sing “I dreamed a dream”, I remember thinking to myself, is that what everyone is talking about? Is everyone going nuts? Is this what everyone calls amazing vocals? She doesn’t sound terrible but she doesn’t sound terrific either. She sounds OK, amateurish but OK.

Well, my opinion doesn’t really matter. After all I’m just one of the few people who thinks she isn’t good enough to be taken seriously. The majority of people back up the clever PR machine because they’re just brain dead. They are too lazy to form an opinion for themselves and whether they like to admit it or not they are continually influenced by the Status quo without realising.

All the support Susan Boyle received stemmed from pity. I wouldn’t even say compassion but just pity. In a ferocious world like the one we live in, people like to show their humane side once in a while. Although everyone was ready to throw stones at her before she started to sing and couldn’t wait to release their everyday lives frustration on a woman who didn’t look like your average western woman should look like. Nothing wrong with showing a bit of humanity, the only problem is that people only do it because the powerful minds behind these silly TV shows influence them to do it. At the end, if Simon Cowell criticised Boyle she wouldn’t be where she is today.

Susan Boyle looks like a nice woman so many will it quite cruel when someone criticises her, but as an art lover I have to say she makes me feel concerned. Pseudo-artists like her are a threat to pop music, perpetuating the trash  culture we are living in.

Although she is earning good money I think she is also being exploited and I may be very wrong but I don’t believe in the longevity of her career. The do gooders will not buy a second album. They are too insensitive to care about her when the “next great new reality TV show Talent” comes along. Unfortunately for her, she will be dropped by her record label and forgotten… and Cowell will keep on doing this until people wake up and judge without letting themselves be manipulated and act like herd.

I just think let her have her fame time. She has had a rotten time during her life, and if she is ok with it, then so be it. Anyone can sing better than me, so she has her own style of talent as far as I am concerned.
    Interesting topic.
