The English, Part 2
THE HUGHS
Hugh Lauire
![]()
Now, he is actor whose American accent sounds more American than most Americans. If you think that sentence sounds weird, you probably haven’t seen Hugh’s cool TV show House. He even fooled the producer. Now, I hope this article doesn’t end up on telewatcher just because I mentioned House. Yes, I knew Hugh Laurie existed before this show. But I stand my ground: His most amazing performance is as the arrogant and brilliant as House. No worries, I shared my love for it before on my blog: http://pinartarhan.com/blog/house-better-than-sherlock-holmes-and-csi-combined/
Message? Watch House!
Hugh Dancy

That guy is made for playing good guys. I mean look at his face. He could play a psychopath and you’d still want to hug the guy. Which is why casting people use this to their advantage. He played a rich/nice/romantic businessman (let’s face it, not your everyday combination), a sweet writer who falls in love with a shape shifter, a lovable and cute geek,..
You will know what I mean when you see the movies. No, they are not all romantic comedies but he does play a romantic in almost all all of them.
Favourite Dancy: The Jane Austen Book Club, Blood and Chocolate, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Sleeping Dictionary.
The Jane Austen Book Club Review: http://pinartarhan.com/blog/the-jane-austen-book-club/
Hugh Grant
Cover of Nine Months
In all fairness, he did play in a thriller and it was not bad at all. It is just that how can you not type cast hugh? His attitude screams lovable dork!!! It is OK- he provided us with some classic romcoms.
Favorite Grant: Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, Bridget Jones, About A Boy, Nine Months, Extreme Measures (the thriller)
That’s it for British Hughs. Watch out for part 3 with Clive Owen, Ben Barnes, Charlie Cox, Matthew Macfadyen and Paul Bettany. Then there are the Irish and the Scottish…Boy, this is going to be some series. Hope you enjoy it.

I saw Bridget Jones with Hugh Grant. I first saw Hugh Lauire in a comedy. He played a rich, bumbling English bachelor whose butler was for ever getting him out of trouble. I was a fan of the series. I was shocked when I realized that the man playing House was the same actor. He is so good.

Hugh Laurie is amazing. I knew who he was and I had seen him in other stuff before House came on but he made me totally forget all about it. Such a brilliant character could only be played by him. Kudos.

Hugh is as English as one can get. But he is just an amazing actor. I am so used to him speaking in American accent, I get surprised when I hear him on interviews.
