The Case of Dominique Strauss-kahn: The Prosecution Asked The Prosecutor to Withdraw, Due to Leaks

The prosecutor in Manhattan announced on Wednesday the maintenance charges for sexual offenses against Dominique Strauss-Kahn and ruled to withdraw the case as attorney asked the alleged victim, whom he accused of "leaking" in the press.

“I am writing on behalf of the victim to seek immediate withdrawal” for DSK, Kenneth Thompson wrote Wednesday, the lawyer maid at the hotel Sofitel, aged 32, who accuses Strauss-Kahn, in a letter to the prosecutor Cyrus Vance.

“New York State residents are entitled to have a fair and impartial public prosecutors in a case so important, and” your office, unfortunately, proved to be unable to meet these criteria, “added the lawyer.

“Your office is apparently responsible for repeated and damaging leaks in the press last week, aimed to discredit the victim’s reputation and even, what is perhaps worse, to shake allegations of pressure on Strauss-Kahn,” says Thompson .

Lawyer evokes also a “possible conflict of interest” between the former director of the IMF and prosecution, which is that an official origin of the prosecutor’s office would be married to one of his lawyers Strauss-Kahn.

New York Times mentioned the case in June and said that the woman, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, Cyrus Vance immediately phoned her husband, Marc A. Agnifilo, heard about the work of his cabinet for DSK.

The prosecutor in Manhattan and immediately expressed “profound disagreement” with this letter and refused to withdraw. “Any suggestion that this office should withdraw completely without foundation,” said Erin M. Duggan, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.

“The investigation continues,” Vance said earlier prosecutor’s office, after a meeting with lawyers and former director of the IMF.
