The Life and Times of Jade Goody

Love her or hate her, with her larger than life personality and her exuberance for life, she has certainly left her mark on this world with her controversial adventures which began with her appearance in Big Brother.

Today is Mother’s Day in the UK, a day when we mothers look forward to being pampered and showered with hand made cards and lovingly chosen gifts. My thoughts turn today to Jade’s family, her two small boys in particular. Reading the news this morning as I was opening my cards, it made me even more grateful for this special day and made me hug my own three children a little tighter. The thought of never sharing another Mother’s Day brought a tear to my eye.

When a young mother’s life is taken away, it makes us all realize the fragility of life and how short our time together is, and the importance of spending quality family time together is. Instead of taking root at that computer, allowing our children to barricade themselves in their rooms with their various gaming machines, we should all make the effort to do more as a family unit. Sharing meals together is an important bonding time, as is playing games together, reading aloud, picnics, nature rambles and shared hobbies.

It was a cruel disease that robbed Jade of her life and should serve as a warning to everyone not to neglect their health, to keep up with those regular smear tests, no matter how uncomfortable or embarrassing they may be and this goes for any other screening tests available. Any suspicious aches, pains or discharges do need to be checked out. I sincerely hope that this tragedy that has been so widely broadcast will serve as a wake up call to us al, to live in the moment, and to love and cherish each other. Health is the most precious thing we have and no amount of wealth can ever equal that.

With love, blessings and respect to Jade’s beautiful family.

A beautifully written piece. It is so sad that she has left two young boys and I agree with you that we should all make an effort to make the most of our lives and the people we love while we are still here.

moving story! Thanks for reminding me to cherish every moment with our love ones when we still have the time, and thank for waking my awareness on the importance of health checks.
