The Loss of a Star

Remember.
Michael Jackson 1958-2009.

Michael Jackson was a famous pop star from when he was 11 years old. He first starred in “The Jackson 5″ at that age, and quickly gained popularity as the years went by. He was referred to as the “King of Pop” later on in his career. His album Thriller, which was released in 1982, was the world’s best-selling record of all time. Four other studio records are among the world’s best-selling records: Off The Wall (released in 1979), Bad (released in 1987), Dangerous (released in 1991), and History (released in 1995).

Michael Jackson’s music video Thriller was widely credited with turning it from a promotional tool to an art form. Jackson’s Black and White and Scream also made him very famous. He invented the very popular dances; the Moonwalk and the Robot. Some people say that “One day Jackson was doing the Moonwalk, and the next day EVERYONE was doing it”.

Jackson raised and donated millions of dollars to 39 charities. His “Change of Appearance” damaged his public image, but even now everyone still idolizes him.

After his death, there was a rush all over the world to buy Jackson’s albums. His album Thriller reached number one on the iTunes chart, and other eight albums have made it to the top 40. The news of Jackson’s death spread very quickly on-line, causing sites such as Twitter, Google and Wikipedia experienced technical difficulties due to user overload, searches for “Michael Jackson”, etc. Twitter actually crashed because many people were using it to spread the news to one another.

Michael Jackson will always be remembered as the “King of Pop” and a great singer. He will still live on in each of our hearts, whether you liked him or not.
