The Newest Philly Eagle, Michael Vick From His Demise to His Rise
This article describes the recent signing of Michael Vick to the Philadelphia Eagles. This controversial topic has raided headlines around the sports world for past couple months. Now the debate heats up with Vick signing to a championship contending team.

In 2001, Michael Vick was riding an all-time high. He just got drafted number one overall by the Atlanta Falcons. He became the first African-American quarterback ever taken number one, and had the world in his hands. Vick’s potential seemed endless.
In 2003, Vick seemed to accomplish the impossible by beating Green Bay at Lambeau Field during the playoffs. This ended Green Bay’s undefeated streak at home during the playoffs. Vick’s career started off as good as anyone could have wished. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times in his early football career.

Vick’s reputation started to slowly decline. In 2006, Michael Vick flicked off many fans while walking into the tunnel after a game. Then in 2007, Vick started being investigated for dog fighting. Then in August, 2007, Vick pleaded guilty to the dog fighting charges. Commissioner Roger Goodell said that Vick had admitted to actions that was “not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible.”
After being released from prison on July 20, 2009 he was then sentenced to home confinement. Vick after spending 23 months in prison, claims to be a changed man.
Then on August, 13, 2009, Michael Vick was given his second chance. Many NFL Teams quickly dropped out of the Vick sweepstakes and publicly declared they wouldn’t be interested in signing Vick. This past week only a handful of NFL teams claimed they would consider signing Vick. Some of these teams included the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and a few other teams. After finding a team with a stable infrastructure Vick decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.
On Thursday, Vick signed a two-year deal with the Eagles. The first year is worth $1.6 million with an option for a second year at $5.2 million. Michael Vick will be fighting for time behind Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, and A.J. Feeley. With this signing the Eagles seek to win their first Super Bowl in their team’s history.
Nevertheless, Vick is an electrifying, dynamic player that can change a game at any minute. Teams will have to spend more time than they want to in order to prepare for Vick. Therefore, let’s take a look at some of Vick’s best highlights…
