The President of The United States Sent Me an Email

It wasn’t everything I hoped it would be.

I wrote President Obama an email about my situation as a hard working, responsible, high interest rate on an interest only loan paying, citizen, who cannot get ANY HELP from ANYONE on a refinance of said loan.

I also wrote my Representative and Senator the exact same letter. I didn’t beg for money, although there was part of me that wanted to because I see that a lot lately and some seem to do quite well with it. I didn’t offer to write song lyrics, or a poem for their next special occasion, although I DID think about making my letter rhyme. I just told my story, plain and simple.

Our President was the only one of the 3 to respond. Guess the others are too busy. (insert eyeroll)

Long story short, or just short story shorter, (for those of you who are feeling lulled to sleep), Mr. Obama gave me a few links to check out and a pep talk about how times are tough, but will get better in the future. Signed, yes signed, by Obama.

Ok….
I was kinda excited to see an email from Obama in my in box. And, before I opened it, I entertained several fantasies about how I conveyed my situation SO WELL that in his next speech he would perhaps talk about that single mom who was busting her butt in the midwest and was being advised by her lender to go into foreclosure on her yucky loan in order to move her up in line for a refinance….how America’s most powerful person was going to make sure that I didn’t have to stoop to that to be treated fairly. How he had a solution. One that would help me to help myself.

Ahhh…..the power of fantasy! I think it was like 45 minutes of my day. I may have smiled while fantasizing. I think my eyes watered too.

There wasn’t a program in the email that will help me. And, while I appreciate (more like accept) the pep talk, I became fairly certain that his reply to me was a FORM LETTER (gads!!!!) because when I tried to reply, the “send to” read “donotreply@whitehouse.

I seriously doubt President Obama actually sent this email. The White House has machines to answer most of his mail and to sign his signature. It’s a pretty old trick. All modern Presidents do it; but you are right that you have to be active in saving yourself.

I know that Guy. It’s not really a trick if I know. I just wrote this that way to illustrate “hope”.

Thank you for reading and commenting!!

Even though your return email wasn’t typed by the President’s very own fingers, it must have been a little exciting just the same. I have written to our Canadian Prime Minister a time or two and the replies were obviously not from his own hand, I still couldn’t help but be just a little tickled to see it sitting in my email box.

I was a single mom of 3 and I understand what it’s like to work too much, see your kids too little, and spend most of your time worrying about how you will keep things together.

    I wish you luck.
