The Ultimate World Idol

Voting on this can seriously damage your health.

For the past week or so, my computer has been on all day , and every twenty minutes  I have been  placing my vote . This voting lark is addictive, as well as fun, which is what it is supposed to be, Watching your hero rise and fall in the ratings is both pleasurable and frustrating,  in equal degrees. If all this sounds mad, then let me tell you , I am not alone. All the fans have been busy supporting their own Idols. People have dedicated themselves to a whole day, and in some cases, a whole night too, pounding away at the vote button on the computer.

Teeterwall put this vote up, and  most of the idols were theirs, which is not surprising, when you think how big the USA is. But does that deter Great Britain, not a bit of it. We are called Great for a reason, and we are a stalwart bunch of people. We may have a tiny island in comparison to The States, but we have determination, and we don’t mind losing, as long as we put up a good fight.

When the vote ended at midday today, there were two British Idols way in front of the rest, and I am very proud of that. Leona Lewis was our runner up. She is quite a star in the US, and  well done to her for her achievement.

The top British position went to Gareth Gates. All the week had seen him in the top 20 most of the time, but in the end he dropped to 21, just missing out on the Hall of Fame. He had over 7,000 votes, and was not that far behind at the end. This is an amazing achievement for someone who is virtually unknown in America, and a lot  of the credit has to be attributed to the loyalty and  determination of his stoic British fans, who can be proud that they put him up high, as he richly deserves.

Now my life can go back to normality, but it was fun while it lasted.
