Top Nine Aussies in The Entertainment World: Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue and More
A tribute list of nine very successful Australians including actors, actresses, singers and directors.
Funny People wasn’t all that movie, he is undeniably a gifted and a hardworking actor. He
has no problem gaining weight and becoming unrecognizable for the role. And nope,
doesn’t mind looking ugly either. Have you seen an image from Star Trek? The movie won
an Oscar for best make-up. And very righteously so- it must take a longggg time to make
Bana look that awful.
My favorite Bana movies are Troy and The Time Traveler’s Wife. I stil have a lot of Bana movies to watch.
- Peter Weir

He is the director of The Year of Living Dangerously, Gallipoli, Fearless and The Truman Show. I have a feeling the movie Australia would have been even better if Weir directed it. I do love the movie anyhow. I just think Weir could have done a better job.

- Heath Ledger

Obviously. He was a great actor. Everyone who knows him swears by how passionate, dedicated and extraordinary he was. He made many good movies in a career span that was cut tragically short. If you are that terrific an actor and your art knows no boundaries, you are surely to go a long way. And he did.

- Kylie Minogue

I don’t even like pop music. I despise most pop stars and I musically enjoy 2-3 of Kylie’s songs and that are not exactly pop. The duet with Nick Cave, anyone? Amazing voice, extreme beauty and on-screen/stage presence. She is just different. She reinvented herself, survived cancer, her stardom can challenge Madonna.
- Alex O’Loughlin

He played in the short-lived yet immensely engaging and entertaining TV series Moonlight. He was playing a good vampire gone Private Investigator and was trying to help people. Of course things are never simple where vampires are involved. He had to go fall for a human- a reporter. It was fun and you got to appreciate the fact that he was playing a Californian. Fingers crossed for other fun and successful projects for this Aussie.

- Simon Baker

I was never tempted to watch The Guardian. I saw some episodes but hey, when you don ‘t click with a show, you don’t click with a show. Plus, what’s wrong with his hair there? Simple as that, right? But after seeing him The Devil Wears Prada, Sex and Death 101 and The Lodger, I really liked this guy. Sure, he was charming but he was also talented as hell. But what sealed the deal- the deal me being turned into a loyal Baker fan) was his role in The Mentalist. In all these projects, he played an American so I only recently found out he was an Aussies. Australia is full of gems, isn’t it?

Fun Fact: Did you know Mel Gibson was mistaken to be an Australian due to his earlier Australian roles in Mad Max and Tim. His accent is impeccable as he lived there from 12 to mid-20s.

I never knew Hugh Jackman was from Australia. Nicole Kidman is a very awesome actress and I think she’s highly under rated. I really like “Eyes Wide Shut” by Stanley Kubrick. Wild movie and still confounding to me. And of course, Heath Ledger. What a great actor he was. Great list you’ve compiled here. Thumbs up article, Zoey.
