Well they lost millions, perhaps billions of dollars during the economic downturn of 2008 – 2009, yet the richest if the rich are still worth billions. Forbes magazine has released their new list of the richest Americans in 2009. The top 5 should be no surprise to most people.
Interestingly 4 of the top 10 are all related. When you go shopping at Walmart remember you are adding dollars to their wealthy retail empire….the Sam Walton clan dynasty heirs are all billionaires.
So here they are the richest people in America:
Number One is of course Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, who is worth an estimated 50 Billion.

Number Two billionaire in America is the Omaha mogul Warren Buffet, who is estimated to be worth 40 billion.
Number Three is Larry Ellison, the Oracle founder, said to be worth 27 billion.
Number Four on the list is Christy Walton, who inherited her billionaire status from her late husband, who was a son of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Her estimated wealth is 21.5 billion.
Number Five is Jim Walton, son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, estimated to be worth 19.6 billion.

6. Alice Walton worth 19.3 billion
7. S. Robson Walton worth 19 billion.
8. Michael Bloomberg worth 17.5 billion.
9. & 10. Charles Koch and Brother David Koch each worth 16 billion.
