by Konrad0611 in People, November 29, 2009

A tribute will be held for dead singer, Stephen Gately.

A tribute to recently deceased singer, Stephen Gately, will be held tonight in London.  1,000 friends, family and fans will attend the event at the Palace Theatre, which has been organised by his widower, Andrew Cowles.

Singers including Beverly Knight, Lee Ryan and Chesney Hawkins will perform, with actor, Sir Ian McKellen reading a poem.

Gately died in October this year from “natural causes” at his holiday home in Majorca.

More than 3,000 people attended his funeral in Dublin’s St. Laurence O’Toole’s church.

The tribute will be hosted by Christopher Biggins and will feature a musical tribute from the remaining members of Boyzone: Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch.

Tributes are also expected from Cherie Blair, and comedians Paul O’Grady, Matt Lucas, Graham Norton and Alan Carr.

Gately’s parents Martin and Margaret and siblings Michelle, Mark, Alan and Tony are expected to attend the private concert on Sunday night.
