Trisha Goddard: Inspirational Woman
Trisha Goddard is a talk show host and broadcaster in the UK who is one of the strongest women you will ever hear about. Many people believe that she is just someone who worked hard and got to where she is and she has had an easy life. Well she has not, far from it.
I used to watch the Trisha show every day while I was writing. I must admit I was never a major fan of all the topics but I watched it because I liked her as a person. It was only when I recently read her autobiography that I realised that she is an amazing woman, and should be seen as an inspiration to many other women.
Trisha did not have an easy at all, being born to a black mother and a white father. She was the darkest out of all her sisters. She got teased and had a strained relationship with her father, she moved from the UK to Australia when she was in her early 20’s to be with the man who later on became very abusive and eventually died of an Aids related disease. Her ex partner turned out to be gay and he could have given her the virus too, but luckily she did not get it.
She was in a couple of abusive relationships and her sister was mentally ill. Her sister later went on to kill herself as a result of her mental illness. Trisha was admitted to a psychiatric ward for three months due to having a nervous breakdown. However, when she came out she met an amazing man and she went on to become the first black television presenter on Australian television.
Years later Trisha faced the biggest battle of her life, she was told she had breast cancer. Instead of wollowing in self pity, Trisha decided to fight it, and fight it she did. She continued to exercise and run for miles whilst she was being treated for the illness. She also continued to work on the Trisha show while she was terribly sick.
Trisha was a workaholic, a single mother and someone who experienced massive highs and at the same time she experienced huge lows. However, she continued to fight and fight and now she is living a wonderful life with her husband and two girls.
