Was Michael Jackson Killed by Pepsi?
Was the 1984 incident the event that caused the use of the King of Pop’s use of painkillers which eventually caused his death?
January 27th, 1984. A day that will be known as one of the darkest days in the life of the King of Pop. An incident that caused second and third degree burns to his scalp and face whilst he was shooting a Pepsi commercial.
During the sixth take of the commercial, there was a premature detonation of the pyrotechnics which exploded nearby Jackson and lit his hair on fire. He was unaware that he was on fire and continued to do the commercial until stagehands help cover the flames. As seen in the video (shown below), he appears with clear burns on his scalp with areas of barren flesh where hair was just a few seconds before. Jackson was then taken to a nearby hospital.
The singer’s recovery was what led to his use of painkillers and prescription medications, which may have caused the abrupt cardiac arrest that ended his life on June 25th, 2009. Jackson was said to have taken 30-40 Xanax pills everyday in the year 2004.
After the 1984 incident, Jackson sued Pepsi and recieved a settlement of $1.5 million which he donated to Brotman Memorial Hospital in Culver City, California, which created the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children.
