Why are Some Celebrities Real Jerks?

“Look over here, no over here!” This is something that you would hear quite a lot when you are a celebrity. “Can I have an autograph? Could you sign this… this too… oh, and my shirt; it is for my grandmother and she just loves you!” If you were a celebrity, would you be able to deal with all of that constant pressure?

I have not had the desire to become famous because I understand the pros and cons that come with the lifestyle. Many people have a celebrity who would make them lose all self-control if seen face-to-face. This is not uncommon at all, but what you have to realize is they are normal people just as we are. The only difference is they could have more money and some times that is not even the case. When you think about how you would react if you seen your favorite celebrity, it usually does not include your real reaction of screaming emphatically and grabbing anything your eyes can see. If you would stop and think about what it would feel like if you were the hunted instead of the hunter, you might think twice about overreacting. This includes asking for an autograph during a meal, which just seem to boggle my mind.

A celebrity’s lifestyle is composed of meeting many faces in new environments. This usually puts them on defense because they are out of their comfort zone. (If you had a mall of 3,500+ people waiting for a meet-and-greet with you and your staff and security only consisted of ten people, you would probably have a different strategy as well.) If you can analyze a person’s movements when they are out of their comfort zone, you will notice that many are more conservative. They are more careful on what is said and done to make sure things do not get out of control It might be alright if you had one fan who was overly excited but if you add more fans like that then you could have a serious problem on your hands. This is why when you go out in public and run into an idol of yours, it might be in your best interest to say a short greeting and keep it moving.

No one likes to be irritated to the point where you cannot stop the irritating action or leave the environment. Celebrities have to live their life this way usually 75% of the time when they are out of the confinement of their home. At some point, everyone wants to cut loose and not be bothered but when you have an occupation that gives you the opportunity to be loved and idolized by many, you must also understand mass admiration is apart of the job description. So who is in the wrong: the celebrity who says “no” to an autograph or a fan that refuses to leave his favorite celebrity alone until he signs everything in his hands?
