Why Do People Care About Celebrity Gossip?

I believe there are a few reasons why people listen to, care about, and often believe celebrity gossip. For one there is a high chance that whoever is watching is jealous of their success and feel good about seeing them mess up their lives whether it is true or not. Another thing is that they have mad nothing of their own life so feel the need to fill it with the accomplishments of others which is just a downward spiral because they look at those achievements that make them feel worse. So they fill it with more emptiness which makes them feel even worse. On a somewhat less serious note, some people might watch or read just because they are bored and have nothing better to do, which of course is not true( you could read a book, play a board game, maybe even write articles like this one). The final reason I think people are so interested in celebrity gossip is because the famous people’s lives seem so much more interesting. So interesting that some people even try to seem them so much that they can try to copy them so that they can have a great life like them but for all they know that life might not even turn out to be so great but I guess that is their decision.
