Will Ferrell: The Office Will Never be The Same

Will Ferrell: The Office Will Never Be the Same.

For a movie star as big as  might just make him TV’s next big thing.

Yesterday, NBC producers of “The Office” announced that  will make a multi-episode guest appearance on the show around the time of Carrell’s departure. With Steve Carrell roughly six episodes away from his “Office” farewell, producers are lining up big-named guest appearances and cameos for Michael Scott’s swan song.

In what has been an up-and-down seventh season, plenty of fans and critics have wondered if the show can survive without the  idiot-savant antics. But the shows writers and producers seem determined to find a way to continue the show, by shifting the focus away from one main character and paying more attention to the talented ensemble cast.

If the show can remain successful it will speak volumes for the “The Office’”s writers and producers to continue it’s success while losing one of the Hollywood’s most recognizable names in comedy. And they aren’t afraid to brag about it.

“We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star,” quipped “Office” executive producer Paul Lieberstein. “We are proud to continue ‘The Office’s’ tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.”

Hopefully Ferrell’s character is more nuanced than his normal  characters, and helps Carrell have the send-off he deserves.

But for anyone who can’t wait for Ferrell to make his multi-episode guest arc, tune in tonight to NBC at 9 p.m. for a surprise cameo from a rather controversial awards show host—it’s not Bob Hope.
