Women Anchors

A Tough Sell.

With images of men still revel ant in older men minds most lad anchors still face a hard time in certain markets of being accepted. Jerry Springer, once said most anchors are nothing but pretty people during the news and his statement rings true.

We know the co-anchor thing started in the seventies around the National Organization Movement, and the feminist era of that time, although men was during this in the sixties, although Oprah Winfrey, was doing local news in Nashville, while in college, atTennessee State, on one of the local affiliate station on the ten o’clock broadcast.  I’m sure she face some resentment but let’s not bite the hand you are fed by in salary.

When Barbara Walters, left the today show to head to ABC, becoming one of the first million dollars female anchor, we all now that she felt some resentment from Harry Reasoner, although, if his network was number one she probably wouldn’t have been assigned to the evening news.

Still many people would love for a single anchor to give the news, but somewhere you will face people wants this or there are not enough images of this on television that we usually hear. In other words instead of concentrating on the news, we’re concentrating on looks, races, and the sex of the reporters.

While this co-anchor is a forever art in certain broadcast, it only work if the chemistry click. Which keep many tuning into the news not because of the sexes.
