You Can’t Fix Stupid

Insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

Have you noticed how celebrities are more ignorant than you might assume? Granted not all; but, an inordinately large number of them are dumber than a box of rocks.

With the money, prestige and spotlight focused on them, they complain about a lack of privacy. They attempt to hide their private lives away behind large walls and heavy gates. They use security measures that resemble the Secret Service and dart back and forth from blacked out limousines. And then, they do something totally ridiculous.

Take Lawrence Taylor. Former NFL Superstar, sports commentator and celebrity. He has cashed his celeb status in on numerous occasions, banking on name and athletic ability numerous times in the eighteen years since he last played professional football.

Now, LT is in a jam. He has been charged with two misdemeanors, both of them surrounding his solicitation and performing sexual acts with a minor. The sixteen year old prostitute was, by age, unable to consent to sexual congress. LT will now spend the rest of his life on a Sex Offenders list.

Charlie Sheen, son of Martin Sheen, brother of Emilio Esteves, and star of Two and a Half Men; Charlie has had more charges during his career than Lindsey Lohan.

Why do these celebs do this to themselves? We may never know, perhaps they really are dumber than dirt, or just so narcissitic that they require even the negative attention that such acts can bring them. Either way, as long as stupid people, do stupid things; we the voices of the world will have interesting water-cooler chatter.

Just a thought.

I’m glad I’m poor and unknown, I think I lead a happier life this way.

Very well said, these people don’t know the harm they cause by acts like these.
Celebrities are human beings just like us and do al these kind of things, thereby highlighting the various things that we normal human beings do too.
It is because they live in the glar of this materialistic spotlight that their story gets told to the world while there are so many of us who live through the abuse and pain with no voice.
Some of us are brave enough to write about it but to spread the awareness and also have stones pelted at us for telling it out while failing to realise we are actually putting flowers of experience into their hands.
    Well said….

Just pondering here – Do A list celebrities do stupid things on purpose to get attention; do they do stupid things by accident and then the mean old paparazzi people take advantage of them; or is it just that people who are prone to doing stupid things in a big way are more likely to become A list celebrities?

Or a combination of all three? Just pondering.

I’ll just be nice and say they have the same flaws we do. They just get to act out on a grander scale.

I like the title. Remember all those allegations leveled against R Kelly and Michael Jackson when they were in a position to get any woman they wanted. Isn’t it stupid like you say?
