Donating Hair
Information on places to donate hair.
Pantene Beautiful Lengths is anotehr organization that takes donations of hair to make real wigs. I recently heard of this organization because someone donated hair in my honor. They also take hair to make into wigs, although unlike Locks of Love, Beautiful Lengths donations need to be only 8 inches in length from tip to tip and again in a braid or ponytail. Again the hair must be clean and dried because it also makes it harder to make a wig with dirty hair. The hair also cannot be color treated or grey because color treating and greying hair weakens the strands. They would be too brittle to stand up to the rigorous process of making wig. After the wig is made it is then donated to the American Cancer Society’s wig banks across the country so that women who cannot afford a wig could go in a pick out one they would like.
It takes about 6 ponytails in order to make just 1 wig, so even 1 donation can make a big difference. With just one donation of hair to either one of these organizations you could be making a difference in someone’s life. It is so easy to do. You already grow hair, so let it grow longer and then when you get it cut, tell the stylist you want to donate the hair to one of these organizations or one of the other ones throughout the country. Give normalcy and confidence to a woman or child who is experiencing the feelings and emotions related to cancer and lossing their hair.

Hair that Cares, Inc. is a non-profit organization that grants medical wigs to financially deprived adults and children who suffer from medical related hair loss.
Created from the concept when people look good, they have a tendency to feel good, the founders of Hair that Cares, Inc. realize that patients suffering from hair loss may not be able to afford realistic looking hair alternatives. Some insurance companies do not cover the expense of a quality medical wig.
We help those, but limited to, Chemotherapy Patients, Progeria and Alopecia Areata sufferers.
