Give to Children`s Charities This Holiday Season Without Spending a Cent
We are all aware that children across the globe are in need of food, clothing, housing and medical treatment, and that donations play a crucial role in solving this problem. The following websites and their sponsors have made it possible for anyone with an internet connection to donate, without spending a cent.
Microsoft Live Search Club lets you perform searches as well as play games. Game winners are awarded tickets. You can use your tickets to buy prizes, or you can donate your tickets/prizes to a charity of your choice.
Powered by Yahoo, GoodSearch allows users to pick their cause, and that particular charity receives a donation each time the user does a search.
GoodShop, also powered by Yahoo, allows you to shop through them on-line at many popular stores such as WalMart and amazon. A portion of each purchase is given to the charity of your choice.
The Child Health Site makes it easy to help children in need. This one is simple, you go to the site and click daily and sponsors pay for the donations. The Child Health Site also has buttons available that you can place on blogs or web sites, so your visitors can get in on the action.
FREE Rice is a site that lets you learn as well as donate grains of rice to the hungry. You will be shown a word and given four possible meanings for that word, you just click on the correct meaning. Every correct answer you give means a donation of 20 grains of rice to those in need. Twenty grains of rice may not seem like a lot, but the more you play, the better you will get, and the grains do add up fast.
While the breast cancer site is not officially a children`s charity, every year thousands of children are affected because they have lost a loved one to breast cancer. Visit the breast cancer site and click daily, or download a button for your blog/website.
HungryChildren.com is a site that helps one child at a time through on-line clicks. Not only do 100% of the proceeds go to that child, but the sites sponsor will match all donations. HungryChildren.com also has a downloadable banner for your blogs/websites. Why not downlod a banner for your blog/website?
These are just a few of the many sites where you can help make a difference in a child`s life for free. Please click or search daily to your part, or visit the home pages of these sites for more information on becoming a sponsor.

Do you think you will wind up on many mailing lists?
Nothing is free – these charities derive income when people “opt in” buy contacting the site. Your contact information will be used for further solicitation of everything from other charities to sneakers.

I use 4 of these sites daily and have for many months now. I have never been contacted about anything. To use the last 4 on the list you do not give any contact information at all. And, no, nothing is free. The clicks are already paid for by corporate sponsors.

It is important that we do everything possible for those less fortunate but I too hate to see the people who colllect the donations take the lions share of the proceeds. Please check out any charity and give to those that truely are a charity.

Great article, Lanne. I’ve used some of these sites before, and never been put on any new mailing lists.
