Habitat for Humanity and Dresses

This is a story about Habitat for humanity and dresses. If you want to find out more, read on!

Habitat for Humanity Of Beaver County on Sunday April 17, 2011 had a dress sale to raise money at the First United Methodist Church in Rochester PA.

People from all over, people such as Weslie Allen, a mother for West Virginia. (An hour to 1 1/2 hour ride). Leslie wanted to buy a couple dresses for her daughter. But at $5 a dress Leslie picked out 14 and paid only $70 dollars , which is sometimes even less than a dress in a department store.. Leslie said ”This is going to be such a blessing for us-there’s no way we could afford these dresses if we were paying full price for them.

Dan Miller, the youth director of the Church said, “We get these dresses into the hahat need them and we earn some money for Habitat. He noted the dress sale  and lunch afterwards  brought in more than $1,400 for Habitat for Humanity.

Leslie may be from out of state, but some local girls also bought dresses. Two girls from Hopewell (PA) Area High school, Nikki D’Jovin and Olivia Hantz were there to find dresses for Hopewell’s Prom next month.

These dresses won’t go to waste. If there are any dresses left over, they will be used for other people such as Rochester PA Manor that later this spring is having a formal dance or given to a thrift store.

A lady from Rochester PA found a dress for her daughter at the sale , then added, “The last one we bought (dress) we bought her was on sale  for $250. This is a much better deal.

At higher prices, the sale would have earned them more than 1400.
