Integrity
Ever wonder why the answer I don’t know is no longer uttered.
Ever wonder how some people will craft an answer to a
question that makes no logical sense but they earnestly
believe it?
What happened to the simple response I don’t know, let
me find out and get back with you?
I recently spent the night at a Hurricane Shelter in New York.
Lights were to be turned out 10pm. At 11pm light were still
burning bright so I inquired of an American Red Cross volunteer
when the lights would be turned off.
Listen carefully to the answer…(and I paraphrase)
Because 400 people are still awake they have decided not to
turn out the lights.
I inquired: who is they?
Answer received: I will go talk with my supervisor.
What?????????????????????????
Unable to let it go I approached a life experienced volunteer who
confirmed lights out was to be at 10pm . His eventual answer to
me regarding the lights was Public Safety of the shelter site was not
allowing lights to be turned off. When I further asked why I received
the honest, integrity filled answer: I don’t know!
Integrity–honesty and truthfulness!
