Jerry Lewis Telethon 2009

There is no telethon bigger than the Jerry Lewis Telethon!

I have no personal story to tell you about Muscular Dystrophy. I’ve never met anyone that had it. I assume that many people that watch and donate to the Jerry Lewis Telethon haven’t also.

Since I was young it has been tradition to sit around the television for the majority of the day watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon. I won’t lie, I watch for more than just the cause though that is one of many reasons that I do watch. I also watch to see how Jerry Lewis has changed from the year before. Surely you must agree, he looks different every year?!  I watch to see what kind of new talent is going to be on. It’s great to see so many famous people come together for a great cause. And I watch to hear the heartfelt stories of families dealing with the disease. I cry with them, laugh with them, and have great sympathy for them.

Whether I donate does depend on my financial situation at the time. I’ve never donated a large sum but do hope that I’m in the financial situation that I can one day.

I am always amazed that most years the record is beat. The only years it didn’t make it was 1982, 2004, and 2005. That’s beyond impressive. I hope that this telethon beats it’s last year record of $65,031,393.
