Looking in Our Own Backyard: Helping Children in Need in America
In a general consensus we are very lucky people to be able to reside in a country full of freedoms, rights, privileged and even in a wealthy country where many people can care for theirs and their own. Unfortunately we also live in a country that has those that can’t care for their own person.
In a general consensus we are very lucky people to be able to reside in a country full of freedoms, rights, privileged and even in a wealthy country where many people can care for theirs and their own. Unfortunately we also live in a country that has those that can’t care for their own person. We have children in need in this country; children in need of loving parents, children in need of a warm home and food, children in need of guidance and children in need of you.
Ideally we like to think that those in need don’t reside within our own country but rather in third world countries that haven’t had the advancement in technology or the ability to develop as well as we have. Such thoughts makes it easier on us to just follow the advice of those infomercials on television asking you to donate money to the cause of children around the world suffering from lack of proper living conditions. Well, we also have children in need in our own country and while it’s admirable to help other fundraisers for children around the world, what about the children in our own backyard? It’s time we started taking care of them.
There are all sorts of reasons why there are children in need here in our own country. Some children are runaways trying to get away from a stinging slap or earn money for the alcohol-induced comatose parent. Some children in need have just had bad times forced upon them when they first lost parents in an accident of some kind and then were shuffled around in a poor foster system. No matter the cause of need the fact is that we still have children in need within our own country and they need to be taken care of. Now is the time to put forth some effort and take care of our own children.
In an attempt to help our own country first many non-profit organizations have made it just as simple for you to help: by donating money. Sites such as SOS-USA.org or GKTW.org are two great sites that will help you find even more ways you can help children in need.
Being able to help out children in need doesn’t require that you adopt or even get involved in the foster care system but rather can happen through any sort of donation you can give. Every size donation is worthy enough to help some child in dire need of help. With your help we can rebuild America to the land it was meant to be: A land of opportunity.
