Does Patriotism Still Matter?

Why does patriotism matter in the first place? Well, without patriotism, would our founding fathers want to free America from British rule? Would the brave Americans in 9/11 that crashed in that Pennsylvanian field even bother to stop the terrorists from crashing into the White House? Without patriotism, we wouldn’t care much about our country.

Well, why in the first place would soldiers enlist in the army? Well the answer is, pure patriotism. These soldiers face risks and threats everyday, and they do it just for our country and us. This proves patriotism as a great power that stirs people to do great everyday in their lives for their country. Without this force, we would not have men and women defending our country, and this nation would not foster a safe and prosperous environment.

And voting is another patriotism-ran element. Without patriotism, not very many people would care who is voted for president. And nobody would run as president for that matter. So without patriotism we wouldn’t have a president or a government. And without a president or government…who would lead our country?!

And without patriotism we would not have foundations like The Red Cross. These humanitarian services watch over less-fortunate people in need. They are always ready to pop into action, and lose themselves in the world of service. And when serving your country, you become a patriot. We can also thank these organizations from keeping our country from becoming poverty-stricken…just another patriotic act.

Well, without patriotism, we would not have people to lead our country, or men and women to defend it. We would not have selfless people to raise it up from the chains of poverty and disaster. We would not care who stomps on us, and we wouldn’t care if our freedom were taken away. However, we should be proud to say that we do have patriotism. And because of it we are free, like we have always wanted to be. Hence the saying: “Don’t Tread on Me”.
