Top 10 Children’s World Issues Pt.1
Talking about the issues that children face all over the globe.
Violence through Indoctrination
In Palestine, many children are taught to hate people of the Jewish faith but to love and treasure “jihad which is holy war, death, violence and child martyrdom. This is thought to be par of their culture and sense of identity and who they are. In fact, they found that a television show in Palestine that had songs, puppet shows, Mickey Mouse and other special characters. It was called children’s Club and was almost like “Sesame Street.” However, it taught the children of Palestine to hate the followers of Judaism and to instill the children to engage in violent wars against them. In the city of Madrases, the teachers perpetuate this culture of death in strictly Islamic schools. This is a quote from a 12 year old Kenyan boy after being rescued from madrasas in 2003.“It was a terrible place, they chain both legs and both arms, sometimes hands and feet together, They beat us at lunch time, dinner time and grab both legs and hands and give us lashes on the buttocks. We sleep in chains, eat in chains, and go to the toilets in chains. Sometimes we are hooked on the roof in chains and left hanging. We have to memorize the Koran and get punished if we cannot recite the Koran in the classroom”. These types of child torture are usually committed in Pakistan, Sudan, and Afghanistan. They estimate that the number of students that are being tortured is between eight hundred thousand to 1 million. They take children in from usually poor families and offer them free food and housing. Some of the schools even have training with weapons as well as strong political training.
Poverty
UNICEF says that about 25,000 of children die everyday. It is found that about 27-28% of children that live in poverty are underweight or experience stunted groups. The two parts of the globe that suffer the most from poverty are South Asia and Sub Sahara Africa. Around 1.1 billion people in developing countries do not have enough access to sanitary water.2.6 billion suffer from no sanitation whatsoever. I never knew that 1.8 million children die from diarrhea. “For the 1.9 billion children from the developing world, there are: 640 million without adequate shelter.” That translates to 1 in 3 children. 400 million with no access to safe water (1 in 5) and 270 million with no access to health services (1 in 7). “10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (same as children population in France, Germany, Greece and Italy.) . 2.2 million children die every yea because they are not giving crucial childhood vaccinations. Many parents in developing countries are faced with the devastating fact that their children will probably not live out even their youngest years. refugeesThere are 500 million refugees and displaced people in the world and half of them are children. This is usually the result of war. It leaves many children dead, orphaned and injured. In the past ten years, over 2 million children lost their lives because of war. It has orphaned about 1 million and injured 6 million. Also, some children runaway to avoid devastating forms of abuse both sexual and physical. They also fear slavery and labor. It is also important which family the child is born into. Because of a families situation, 40 million children are not registered leaving them with no national identity or legal name. Because of a lack of education and rampant rape, AIDS causes the premature death of many parents leaving their children to fend for themselves and other siblings they may have. Due to the Rwanda civil war, 450,000 children Rwandan households are headed by the children left behind. Some children in places of war and tragedy get separated from their family as well.
