The inner passion to spread the good deeds to the needy. It is a matter of courage, patient and dedication to deliver social services to the people.
Some of us have the passion to help other people, it will always start in the family. The quality of helping each other is the foundation of volunteerism. For instances, doing the household chores with the other siblings and the like. You just don’t need that someone will ask a favor, but the initiative to give assistance. The values that were nurtured on to you, the worth of sharing with other people.
A part of growing up, people dream to be somebody in the society. That’s the reason why, some individuals choose career path to the ladder of success and eventually, be an expert to their certain field of their professions. With this expertise or skills, they can share or transfer to change lives of less fortunate people. Thus, they wanted to volunteer themselves in certain placements on the other side of the countries.
Some volunteers could share their experiences in the other countries, they narrate their stories with a smile. Despite the difficulties or the hardships, they were renewed to be another person. It was like, a reborn individuals as they return to their respective homeland.
The old phrase, “Expect the unexpected” is the common statement that you may heard from the volunteers. The next question, “What to expect in doing volunteer work abroad?” This question will be answered through the actual experience of the volunteers are as follows:
1. Am I ready?
The first thing that comes into your mind, “Are you ready?” If it does, then there is no turning back of going to your volunteer mission abroad.
The community will serve as the vital role in your life, they are the core of your mission. They need to be empowered and learn from you. Taking the time to know their differences, the culture and traditional practices. Why? To show respect out of their differences.
3. Working with Other People
Aside from the community, working with other stakeholders or partners are expected. They are the support system to attain the common goal, that is, to uplift the people from poverty.
It is expected that being isolated will be one thing to consider, along the journey, you will feel alone in the placement. But then, you need to remember “why are you there?” It is simply to execute the common goal.
There are a lot of good stories, it would appear the same experiences. But, it serves as knowing the good deeds to help the marginalized Returned volunteers will always have the same stories about their volunteer work, it is a never ending stories. For them, volunteer works will always be in their heart.
