Dilemma and Karma (1)

Can the belief in karma help you deal with dilemmas?

Life is not commonly said to be long. Even those people who reach the age of 100 and beyond do not declare that life is long after all. And while life is short, it is packed with several series of dilemmas. Life is like a short journey filled with a lot of crossroads. However, the crossroads are not like those in real life where road signs tell you exactly where a certain road is heading. The crossroads of life do have road signs but those are only hints and you cannot have a clear picture of where one road will lead you.

This is life. It is like a maze, where everyone in it is required to keep walking. And while one needs to keep walking, nobody knows how long the journey in the maze will take. The question is this- does the length of the journey depend solely on the decisions made or some divine intervention that mysteriously leads the way? As for me, my basis for most of the decisions that I make is my spiritual belief. It would take a book to explain the details of my faith but there is one thing that can help me show it in microcosm, and that is karma.

Basically, there are two things that lead people to every decision that they make. These are ultimate goal and happiness. These two things themselves are a dilemma as goal and happiness do not necessarily go together all the time. In terms of goals, there are many things that an individual aims to do in life but all these plans boil down to one thing and that is the ultimate goal. In terms of happiness, the intricacy comes from the inevitable changes with regard to the source of one’s happiness. One day, you are happy with your friends, the next day, you are happy when you are alone.
