Do You Believe in Coincidence?

by Betty Carew in Philosophy, March 4, 2009

There are mysteries of this world that are nothing short of unexplainable. When weird things happen we tend to ride it off as a coincidence, but some experiences go beyond this.

What if there are so many coincidences that you finally have to give up and say you absolutely can’t explain it. Sometimes coincidence is really hard to ignore as I found out when I came across some articles that seemed a little out of the realm of reality. Take a trip with me into the world of the unbelievable.

James Dean’s Car,

·         We all know that James Dean owned a Porsche and we probably knew that he was killed in, September 1955 but did you know how many weird coincidences followed that car through its life time?

·         Apparently when the car was towed and taken to a garage the engine slipped falling unto a mechanic, shattering both of his legs. This at the time, still could be passed off as a coincidence

·         The next thing that unfolded with this car was a doctor purchased the engine. He drove in races and put the engine in his race car. He was killed shortly after in a race. Again it could have been a coincidence.

·         Another driver in the same race had the drive shaft from Dean’s car and got killed in the same race now this is getting a little suspicious I would say.

·         When Dean’s Porsche was later repaired in a garage there was nothing unusual but when the garage was destroyed by fire it was a little difficult not to believe the car was cursed.

·         Again the car was repaired once more and put on display in Sacramento. Now you would think that a car on display would be pretty much safe but fell of the mount it was on a broke a teenagers hip.

·         The last thing to happen to this car was in 1959 when the car was sitting on a steel support when it broke into eleven pieces. This, my friend was more than coincidence and maybe the claim of this car being cursed really had some bases to it from the beginning.

Baby Saved by the Same Man Twice,

·         In1930 Joseph Figlock was walking down the street when a baby fell from a window above. Both the man and baby weren’t harmed which proved to be a very happy coincidence at least at the time.

·         Fast forward to a year later, Joseph was walking the same street, and you guessed it the same baby fell from the window and Joseph caught it once again. Both were unhurt this is certainly Pass circumstance and into a realm of unbelievable.

A Bullet That Took Ten Years to Kill,

·         Henry Zigfield had a girlfriend but Henry soon got bored with her and he parted ways. She became so distraught that she promptly committed suicide. Nothing strange here, right?

·         The girl’s brother became infuriated when he heard that Henry left his sister and went looking for Henry with his gun in hand. When he finally found Henry he promptly shot him. This could have been the end for poor Henry but luck was on his side and it was just a flesh wound. The brother thought he had killed Henry so rather than face the law he too committed suicide.

·         When the brother shot Henry the bullet that was shot, had lodged in a big tree. Again nothing unusual.

·         Ten years later Henry decided to try and remove the tree in every conventional way possible but nothing would budge that tree so Henry came up with the brilliant ides of blowing it up. This is where things get really weird.

·         It just happened that when Henry set the explosion it loosened the bullet that had missed him ten years before that and shot Henry in the head killing him. Revenge of the dead maybe?

Twins Boys,

·         There wasn’t much unusual when Identical twin boys were born. They were separated at birth going to two different families which is still not unusual but just read on.

·         Even though these families lived many miles from each other with no contact, both families named the boys James.

·         The boys grew up unaware they were a part of a twin, both boys ended up in law enforcement for a career.

·         The boys tinkered in carpentry and mechanical drawing as they aged.

·         When they married, they both married women called Linda. Now, even you have to admit this is getting weird but it doesn’t stop there.

·         After marriage the twin boys both had children of their own. They both had sons. One called their son James Alan; the other called their son James Allen. Coincidence? Who can say but it wasn’t over for this twin.

·         After years of marriage, it crumbled and both men divorced. Shortly after they remarried. Both of the second wives name was Betty!

·         Both of the men bought a dog, which is not unusual on its own, but what takes this coincidence a little further was that they both named their dog Toy.

·         Many years later the twin was reunited. After playing catch up with their lives they both found it unbelievable at the coincidences in their lives which I’m sure you do as well but the weirdest thing was yet to come.

·         It is recorded that one brother was killed by a lorry in a snowstorm while the other died two hours later by a lorry. You have to admit this is really stretching coincidence.

Edgar Allen Poe’s Book,

·         Edgar Allen Poe was a great writer of stories as well as poetry and wrote a book about four survivors of a ship wreck that were adrift in a dory for many days. This story was fiction but in Poe’s story the men that were adrift killed the cabin boy, Richard Parker, and ate him to stay alive. Years later there was a real ship wreck and four men were set adrift in a dory. They killed the cabin boy and ate him to stay alive. The cabin boy’s name….. Richard Parker!

This may sound cliche but I don’t believe in coincidence. Each single thing happens for a purpose. I believe that when the world was created, everything had been predestined and predetermined according to the divine plan. Great write yaffel.

I was hooked too. And, yes, I believe in the POWER of coincidence. I am utterly amazed by people who don’t make the connection.

Fascinating! I don’t believe in coincidences, either. I believe in an incredibly intelligent designer who is capable of weaving events for thousands of generations so that “coincidences” can occur.

    Yaffel
Wonderful read. I believe, “nothing by accident”…and I do beleive strange things do happen, that the unexplained happens, and yet I also believe, there is a Supreme Being who knows all about these things from start to finish.
