Having Convictions of Intuition and Conscience
This is an article explaining why I believe having strong-rooted convictions of Intuition and Conscience are crucial to living an ethical, just, and productive life.
Trusting your intuition is one of the most valuable skills you can learn throughout your life. Martin Luther King Jr. once spoke, “An individual should be willing to break a law that his conscience tells him is unjust and willingly accept the punishment. . .”. Truer words about human intuition have never been spoken. If something that your mind and intuition tells you is wrong or immoral, then it is. King’s intentions behind his powerful words were to convey the message of individual thought. He meant to spark peoples’ minds and inspire them to embrace the messages that their instincts, conscience, and intuition were telling them. Listening to your conscience and intuition and standing up against something you believe to be unjust, immoral, or just plain wrong is perhaps the most important conviction you can have in life.
Having a strong conviction in following your intuition is one of the most common attributes among many notable revolutionary and progressive thinkers. Our great forefathers who founded the majestic United States of America followed their intuition and listened to their conscience when they signed the Declaration of Independence. They stood up for their rights, broke the King’s unjust laws, and were willing to take any action or even punishment necessary to ensure our freedom. Rosa Parks is another notable historical figure who embodied this powerful conviction. She sat at the front of a bus in a section that only whites were legally allowed to sit in. She was arrested for standing up against something she believed to be unjust and immoral. Her actions resulted in a bonanza of media coverage and helped to promote the civil rights movement.
Think about what you would do if you were being subjected to unfair treatment or unjust laws. What do you think you would do if were in a situation like that? Would you just take the unfair treatment and just go on with your life oppressed? Maybe you would listen to your intuition and do what that tiny voice in the back of your head has been telling you to do for as long as you can remember. I hope that you would follow your conscience and listen to your intuition. Having a conviction in your own intuition will lead you on a morally and legally righteous path no matter what choices you make in your own life. Following your heart and standing up for what you believe to be right is truly the best way to live your life.
The human mind is a complex network of neural pathways still years away from being understood by even humankind’s top scientists. Although this may be the case, the human intuition is understandably the key to unlocking the door of oppression. By standing up against what you believe to be morally wrong or unjust, you have shown powerful conviction in your own conscience and intuition. Your intuition will lead you along the just and morally righteous path through life. Take conviction in your intuition and instincts a
