He Knows My Name

Thoughts dedicated to two friends who are going through rough times.

In life, we face fierce storms that are sometimes so devastating we are left so weakened.  Fear and panic sets in at the start.  Later, hopelessness creeps in, drowning us, and leaving us gasping for life.  Have you ever been in a situation that you’re already at the end of the rope?  Or that you simply want to get away from it all, as far away as possible?  I sure did, and all I could do was cry like a child.  It’s at times like those that we are in most need of a good friend who will help us stand and face life, someone to put a new perspective and make sense of what’s happening to us.  But sometimes, no matter what soothing words we hear, there are times that those words just fail to do their magic.  And friends can’t be there always, for they have their own lives to worry about or are simply not available at that particular time.  I have experienced those times that I am all alone.  Or so I thought.

I have had my share also of being on the other side, the one who needs to console a friend.  I learned that most times, I just need to listen, and be there for my friends, maybe offer a sympathetic hug or a shoulder to cry on.  In my heart I know they know what to do, just that sometimes, confusion gets the better of them.  It can be draining at times seeing someone break down in front of you.  I cry with friends sometimes, but I remind myself, I need to be the one who stays strong.  That’s why I am there in the first place.

When friends call and are far away, that’s the hardest part for me.  Distance just makes it impossible to even hold that friend’s hands and say everything will be alright.  In those times, the only thing I could do is pray for them…and remind them that there is Someone who is there with them, Someone who will never leave them.  I have known what it feels to be alone, lots of times.  And in those times, it’s only that Someone who makes me stay sane when I am already at the brink of losing my sanity.

When I am at my most desperate moments, and I can’t call on anyone, I simply go to a quiet place.  I close my eyes and imagine Him holding me as I cry my heart out.  Truth be told, the problem doesn’t magically disappear  by simply squeezing out all the tears from my eyes.  But what really works is the faith and the knowledge that my problems may be big, but my God is bigger than all of that. In fact, He is so big that He can hold me in the palm of His hands.

Guess what?  He can do that for you also, if you would only let Him…

“He sees each tear that falls…and hears me when I call.”

To my two good friends, you know who you are…ride the waves and stay on top of the situation.  The storms will pass.

Brewed you are such a friend to hug.

God is good all the time, He never allow His Children to be apart. Although, im still striving to trust this fellow back, Im sure God will help me for He certainly knew my name, di lang ang name ko LAHAT tayo na nanalig at nakakakilala sa kanya. Kahit ng unbeliever mahal nya, tayo pa kaya.

    Great job Brewed!

this was so beautifully put. Just sit and listen, many times I have done that and many times it has been done for me. Sometimes we need no solutions but just voicing our concerns out loud makes all the difference.

somehow I find, Brewed, you and I have few things in common.
    (1) Love coffee
    (2) Appreciate kungfu
    (3) As sweet as the sunflower of your profile pic (first time self-praise)
    (4) Treasure friendship
    (5) Sentimental, get emotional easily
I wish your two friends get through the tough time as soon as possible, I can understand as I have been there. Cheer up, Brewed.

This article touched my soul. I just lost the one friend. Not that we fought or had a conflict. He had to move out of the boarding house as he completed his course…now I am alone. It’s sad to lose a friend.
